Malta Artists on Facebook is a public group, which artists and art lovers are welcome to join. In it you can post all things art-related, whether it’s news, artwork, exhibition posters or creative tips and techniques. We particularly welcome video content, especially if it’s of you at work in your studio or painting on location. People want to see the artist as well as the art. We welcome all kinds of artists, young or old, amateur or professional, Maltese or just living here.

In it we share our favourite images from members posts in the Malta Artists Facebook group. Our goal with this account is to spotlight the strongest work submitted to us by artists residing in Malta.

Munxar - En plein air by Debbie Bonello @debbiebonellos Oil on canvas 50 x 60 cm 2020 Debbie says on her website: I rediscovered my love for #painting which was forever present growing up. It has now become a daily habit as I lock various themes and subjects on #canvas, using #oils. My works are described as loose and #spontaneous. I use bold #brushwork along colour, #textures and #light to contribute to the overall #mood and atmosphere but leave room for interpretations for viewers to extract their own meaning using their personal experience. I am constantly on a hunt for different compositions wherever I am and combine them with local workshops I attend regularly including #pleinair sessions to extend my studio #outdoors . As an #artist I observe mainly land and #seascapes through moods, preserving them on canvas to express what, to me, is #evocative of that particular place and time. It relates to the importance of making permanent these otherwise volatile emotions. I observe my environment closely to pick specific scenery that conveys abstract feelings. My work is sensitive to #composition, line, texture, colour, and boldness of brushstroke, which come together to project the energy that I reflect and try to #capture on canvas.
